Promoting confidence in corporate reporting and governance
The Financial Reporting Council (FRC) is the UK’s independent regulator of corporate reporting and governance. Working mainly through the Board’s Committee on Corporate Governance and the six operating bodies, the FRC sets standards for corporate governance, reporting, auditing and actuarial practice; monitors and, where appropriate, enforces the application of those standards; and works with the accountancy and actuarial professions to promote the professionalism of their members.
Our aim
Confidence in corporate reporting and governance is a fundamental prerequisite for the effective functioning of the economy and financial markets. The FRC’s aim is to strengthen that confidence by promoting high-quality corporate governance, corporate reporting, auditing and actuarial practice, and by promoting the integrity, competence and transparency of the accountancy and actuarial professions.
