Annually we nominate a charity through our Give as you Earn Scheme and this years charity of choice as nominated by our employees is Cancer Research UK.
Cancer Research UK launched in February 2003 and is now the world’s leading independent organisation dedicated to cancer research. It’s almost entirely funded by donations from the public and over 30,000 volunteers give their time freely to support Cancer Research UK through their network of around 650 shops and 1,000 local fundraising group.
Over 270,000 new cases of cancer are diagnosed each year in the UK, which means one in three people will develop some form of cancer at some point in their life. Many of us know someone or have lost someone to cancer and we all want cures to be found.
Cancer Research UK work hard through independent funding of research into cancer to improve our understanding and develop better ways to prevent, diagnose and treat the disease.
Throughout the year we will be encouraging all our staff and stakeholders to help us achieve a target of £150,000 so please help us to support this worthwhile cause.
In conjunction with Cancer Research UK we are putting together a comprehensive and exciting programme of events to encourage competitive streaks and test nerves to the limits whilst raising money.
Last year we managed to raise over £150,000 for Breast Cancer Care and this year we hope to smash this target.
