The larger more established firms tend to have operations in most of the Offshore Financial Centres (OFC’s) with the others being mainly either Caribbean or Channel Islands based. In addition there is a considerable volume of High Net Worth individuals whose needs make up a large percentage of the work carried out.
The legal system in most OFC’s is based on English common law, as such Lawyers trained and with experience gained in Commonwealth countries are very attractive. The perception of candidates who already have a profile of success gained Offshore is highly appealing to both the Offshore and Onshore market. Leading City and top tier law firms look very favourably on candidates with Offshore experience.
