Doing well in interviews
Competition for temporary posts is fierce and time spent preparing for an interview will always pay off.
Do your research; find out the nature of the business, whether they’re a PLC, partnership or not-for-profit and who their customers and competitors are.
Make a memorable first impression; allow plenty of time to get to the office, wear a suit, smile and shake hands and accept tea, coffee or water if it is offered
Communicate; speak clearly with authority and confidence, be aware of the speed, volume and pitch of your voice, try to be calm, measured and assured
Prepare answers to some standard questions: What is the most difficult situation you’ve faced and how did you tackle it? What are your strengths? What are your weaknesses? Why do you want to leave your current employer?
Prepare some questions of your own: How will you assess my performance? Why has the position become vacant? What are the long term opportunities for development? What do you offer in the way of training? How does the role fit into the structure of the department?
