  • White Shirts - According to Reuters, Debenhams has seen a 50% rise in the sale of white shirts it would seem that people are playing it safe in tough times with plain suits and white shirts.
  • Fast food - Continued growth of fast food companies including McDonalds, KFC and Domino’s Pizza. The jobs created as a result, have shifted their status from “public enemy” to “the nation’s sweetheart” virtually overnight. According to the Times Online, Domino’s Pizza sales have risen 15% in the last 6 months.
  • Match.com - The online dating service Match.com is receiving a surge in traffic, with a 26% year-on-year rise in new members in January 2009. The feeling is that on-line dating is a cost effective and more efficient way of meeting people says Marketing Magazine.
  • Love Film - It would seem that DVDs and take-out are the way forward. Since the credit crunch, membership to Lovefilm.com has shot up by 40%.
  • Pink briefs - Underwear brand, Jockey, claim that men are turning to pink briefs to perk them up in the credit crunch – They have seen a rise in the sale of baby pink briefs by up to 62%!
