Learning Support Jobs

Support staff, including Teaching Assistants and Cover Supervisors, undertake all non-teaching roles in schools and play an increasingly important role in supporting both pupils and teachers. Such is their standing in the modern education structure, in July 2009 the government established the School Support Staff Negotiating Body to guarantee fair pay and rewards for their contribution.

At Michael Page Education we think this move couldn’t have come sooner. While we’re not able to legislate in support of fair pay for learning support professionals, we do everything within our power to make sure the individuals we represent get the pay and benefits befitting these pivotal roles.

Our dedicated learning support consultants, many of whom are ex-teachers themselves, have made it their business to understand both learning support professionals and the institutions that employ them, including state, independent and SEN schools. We know, for example, that there are no mandatory qualifications for learning support staff. We also know that while this is the case, there are a number of training opportunities and qualifications on offer, all of which are outlined on the TDA website.

To benefit from our expertise, to find out about a career in learning support or to discuss a learning support recruitment assignment, contact Laura Stirling at education@michaelpage.com or call 0207 831 2000.
