Payroll specialist for Amazon case study Page Personnel Finance

The background

We were asked to locate a payroll specialist to join the expanding team in Milton Keynes – initially one vacancy, with the potential for additional roles throughout the year.

The challenges

Requirements for the role were tough, including identifying suitable candidates, as they needed previous experience within high volume, fast-paced environments, ideally having worked in large organisations. Personality was also critical, as they had to be commercially minded and forward thinking.
The client also outlined that the timeline for interviews would be difficult, as the assessment day for the position was already arranged and candidates who could not attend would be disregarded. The assessment day itself was also difficult to prepare the candidates for, as it is highly unusual in this market.

The solution

We took the following steps:
  • Advertised the role immediately through the Page Personnel Finance website
  • Searched the Page Personnel Finance database and job boards to locate candidates
  • Submitted a relevant shortlist for approval by the line manager
  • Once confirmed, we booked candidates in for the assessment day
  • Prepared the candidates thoroughly for the day, as most had not previously attended an assessment day
  • Relayed feedback after the assessment day to the client and took some initial feedback
  • Took offer details – the client had requested that we make the offer directly to the candidate as the offer took approximately 30 minutes to go through in detail

The outcome

  • The process resulted in an offer for our recommended candidate
  • This successful result meant that we were the first point of call for the next piece of recruitment one month later, which also resulted in another offer for Page Personnel Finance
