Our client is well established and renowned practice based in North London who is investing in growth. This is a very exciting time to join the firm with growth rates of 15% between 2014 and 2015.

This opportunity will provides a great opportunity for client exposure and will allow you to work with a wide variety of sectors such as catering, financial services, inward investments, media, entertainment, and retail. These sectors also offer a range of turnovers from £1M and in excess of £5M.

Job Description

The successful candidate will be required to carry out the following;

  • Perform assigned work to set standards.
  • Bring to the attention of immediate supervisor anything which is not understood or which is inconsistent with expectations.
  • Develop an understanding of the firm's methods and standards of work required.
  • Develop an understanding of bookkeeping and double entry.
  • Become familiar with the firm's administrative and office procedures.
  • Progress through exams.
  • Develop an understanding of the preparation of statutory accounts
  • Develop an understanding of basic corporation tax computations.
  • Assist other staff members with audits of clients' accounts.
  • Communicate with clients in a professional manner.
  • Become familiar with various software packages including CaseWare and Alphatax.

The Successful Applicant

The successful individual will have the following skills:

  • candidate should have at least 280 UCAS points (or equivalent)
  • GCSE grades A to C, including at least grade B or above in Maths and English Language (or equivalent
  • Up to date knowledge of accounting standards.
  • Work experience in an accountancy practice
  • Excellent IT skills including Microsoft Office and Sage (Xero would be an advantage)
  • Able to meet time constrictions and tight deadlines.
  • Inter-personal and customer service skills are essential.
  • Personable and confident.
