About Our Client

My client are a growing business with modern offices in Surrey and London.

Job Description

The key responsibilities for this role include-

  • Managing the staff in the Accounts Department (reviewing their work and checking daily postings)
  • Making and posting payments/receipts, reviewing & producing reconciliations and liaising with the firm's banks on any client account queries
  • The main point of contact for Accounts queries as they arise
  • Posting journals and preparing accruals and prepayments on a monthly basis
  • Responsible for month end close, ensuring that ledgers balance/reconcile and running variety of automated month end procedures (includes client interest calculations)
  • Identify opportunities to improve and find efficiencies within existing business/system processes
  • Monitoring and reporting on unauthorised disbursements and helping the team to develop and implement other exception reporting
  • Oversee bill processing (and subsequent queries)
  • Experience of Practice Management software. The firm's future plans include an update of this software and the candidate will take a "hands on" approach to both the choice of system and its implementation
  • Ensure all costs are captured for each client including bank transaction fees etc.
  • Ensure VAT is accounted for correctly and key reconciliations performed, drafting the VAT Return quarterly for review by the Finance Director
  • Maintaining Fixed Asset Register
  • Liaise with the firm's auditors and provide all data for the audit
  • Overseeing the firm's daily cheque and BACs runs
  • Oversee cross-training within the Department

A Qualified Accountant with a strong knowledge of Excel with previous people management experience
