About Our Client

To support and drive the growth of Commerce partnerships for specific P&L lines in this media business Money (Investments & Savings; Insurance; Retirement Solutions; Bills & Finance) vertical from growing the franchising & increasing the sale of products and services to those customers.

You will manage key product proposition lines to achieve a revenue budget. You will be in charge of your improving and refreshing your propositions, improving sales through developing and implementing campaign and marketing plans and through building strong working relationships with your partners. You will love unlocking the potential of your category through analysis of the numbers and you will enjoy creating innovative marketing and proposition ideas to promote your category across this media groups properties. You will work closely with partners to optimise the product and product range so that you can smash your sales and revenue targets.

Job Description

  • Product and Category development: manage and ensure that we have the right product offer for audiences in the Money category including, where the need exists, bringing to market new compelling propositions. This will include reviewing partner proposals, research and owning the decision whether they fit with the brand and target market.
  • Marketing: creates and executes marketing plan to drive customer acquisition and retention through the most effective channels, works with teams to create marketing proposals, creative briefing and advertising sign off to tight deadlines
  • Revenue and profit responsibility: managing budgets and P&L for your categories to achieve targets.
  • Managing business performance: monitors business performance daily and proactively suggests activities to improve performance.
  • Branding: contribute to creation of Lifestyle commerce brand, monitoring effectiveness and ensuring that it resonates with audience; including

o Identifying and promoting USPs

o Monitoring and improving customer satisfaction

o Ensuring partner's service delivery supports brand

  • Analytics: analysis of audiences to understand their product needs across different marketing channels and different times of the year
  • Project and Initiative management: be responsible for, as appropriate, day to day business sponsorship of initiatives from concept through to market launch. Lead each initiative from inception to completion.
  • Customer Strategy: develop profitable segment acquisition strategies - reviewing marketing distribution channels, branding, business model, by product, by segment.
  • Proposition roadmap: be responsible for developing and delivering future high value propositions, aligned to segment needs, brand fit and profitability.
  • Customer research: own the research process across internal stakeholders and external research houses.

Main day to day activities:

  • Manage reporting (including forecasting & tracking) for your product proposition category to monitor overall performance, channel performance, marketing performance and understand product performance.
  • Build and manage a full marketing distribution plan for your category including print and digital ads, supplements, inserts, events and work with design to make sure they are delivered to deadlines.
  • Work with key teams to optimise performance e.g. CRM, Editorial team, ad-ops, development, IT, etc.
  • Communicate new initiatives and key wins with the team.
  • Work with other business development teams to share ideas and growth plans.
  • Trend analysis, reviewing competitors, and spotting gaps in the market. Seek out new opportunities and ideas for future business developments.
  • Work with partners to increase sales of existing products and to build new products where gaps identified.
  • Review and enhance the digital offering with our partners including effective search optimisation and onsite merchandising.
  • Liaise with customer services team and helps to manage any reader queries / complaints through to a satisfactory conclusion.
  • Manage all activity in line with the brand and that this is protected and represented in a consistent manner across all activity.

The Successful Applicant

Specific requirements / skills

  • 4 years+ experience working in a Product Proposition, Direct Marketing, Commercially-orientated eCommerce or Consumer Research role from a strong direct marketing-based, retail financial services provider. Applications will be also be reviewed from comparable direct to consumer brand (e.g. FMCG), retailer, loyalty and media companies or a consumer research house with a strong direct marketing focus.
  • Good commercial acumen and ability to spot new commercial opportunities.
    • Excellent problem solver, offering the right balance of creativity and pragmatism, with the confidence to challenge assumptions and instigate positive change to achieve business goals.
    • Proven experience in managing high value providers.
    • Demonstrated ability to thrive in a fast-paced, cutting-edge, Agile environment.
    • Demonstrable ability to manage and deliver manage projects. He/she must demonstrate the impact & influencing skills to win support from others.
    • Be responsible for facilitating and/or helping to facilitate workshops as required.
    • Experience in managing the customer research process (Qual and Quant) would be an advantage
  • Strong communication skills and ability to communicate effectively.
  • Effective team player - able to build relationships and support across multiple teams.
  • Good understanding of developing customer propositions and marketing plans through segmenation insight, customer needs and preferences.
  • Working knowledge of customer acquisition and retention models would be an advantage.
  • Good analytic skills - able to compile reports and analysis, identify patterns and building a case for change. Knowledge of web analytics tools e.g. Adobe Omniture, Google Analytics, etc.
  • Business degree or Diploma in Direct Marketing and Digital Marketing would be an advantage.
