Job Description

  • Deal with applications for the provision of aids and adaptations for council tenants with disabilities, including joint site visits.
  • Monitor property void times and target of performance in the letting of all properties
  • Inspect Council properties, which are, or are about to become, vacant, to determine the nature and extent of repairs required to bring them to a standard suitable for letting.
  • Carry out assessments of void properties using the Housing Health and Safety Rating System.
  • Inspect Council properties where disabled adaptations are required. Determine, on occasions in consultation with an Occupational Therapist, the nature and extent of works required.
  • Prepare a schedule of required work and order to the contractors
  • Post-inspect completed work ensuring this has been carried out to the required quality. Liaise with contractors if this is not the case.
  • Scrutinise invoices for accuracy and value for money and deal with any irregularities prior to authorising payment.
  • Assist with the monitoring of the performance of contractors carrying out works to vacant and adapted properties to ensure compliance with completion targets, quality, and health and safety.
  • Ensure that tenant re-charges and insurance claims are correctly identified, documented and administered.
  • Update and amend the service's computerised databases and assist in the introduction of new monitoring and reporting programmes.
  • Process applications for Disabled Facilities Grants, including carrying out statutory tests of resources, preparing schedules of work, checking quality of work, and liaising with clients and contractors.
  • Carry out any other duties that are within the scope and grading of the post which could also be requested by the line manager or Head of Service.

The Successful Applicant

Successful applicant will have carried out similar aids and adaptations provisions previously and must have experience of processing Disabled Facilities Grants.
