About Our Client

My client a global Telco through its subsidiaries and/or affiliates, engages in Mobile Services and currently provides access to basic financial products and services to individuals and corporations at the base of the economic pyramid in selective emerging markets of LATAM (Paraguay, Bolivia, El Salvador, Honduras and Guatemala) and Africa (Tanzania, Rwanda, Chad, Ghana and Senegal).

Job Description

  • Understand requirements/standards regarding AML Compliance and serve as a source of expertise and counsel to the designated local MFS teams under his/her supervision on all AML issues.
  • Provide hands on support to local operations on local regulatory requirements, understanding and assumptions made to create controls and manage risk.
  • Provide oversight of KYC, KYE and KYA compliance in all countries with a view to gain significant improvements, including practical plans to address legacy agents and customers.
  • Drive the efforts to deliver a Internal Control evaluation (for AML controls) and a satisfactory rating in Internal Audit AML reviews.
  • Provide hands-on, practical and direct training to local staff on how to address AML Program needs.
  • Provide hands-on, practical help to ensure effective local monitoring of transactions using the AML tool, ensuring operational monitoring and effectively covering risk.
  • Guide the LAMLO on the prioritization of actions to achieve stated goal of implementation of an AML Program.

The Successful Applicant

  • Bachelor's Degree required or equivalent in education and experience. MBA and/or advanced Technical Degree preferred.
  • In depth knowledge of AML Compliance experience in an international setting.
  • 8+ years of experience in a corporate environment overseeing AML programs.
  • Direct relevant experience in building compliance programs from the ground up.
  • Full proficiency in English.
  • Ability to work in a multicultural environment.
  • Willingness to travel 30% of the time to countries in the assigned region (Africa)
