About Our Client

Our client is a major global purchasing consortium based in Birmingham.

Job Description

The Assistant Category Buyer for this business will be responsible for:

  • Delivery of allocated individual targets for savings, activity based income, contracted spend, savings validation
  • Develop category expertise
  • Management of allocated categories and associated projects within the work plan within given timescales
  • With support, develop category strategies which maximise value for customers
  • Ongoing pro-active management of an allocated portfolio of contracts and their renewals
  • Ongoing pro-active supplier management
  • Support global sourcing opportunities
  • Lead stakeholder groups if appropriate
  • Undertake bench marking to prove Best Market Pricing
  • Ensure quality documentation is produced throughout the Gateway / Procurement process e.g. strategy documents, OJEU notices, PQQs, ITTs, award documentation

The Successful Applicant

The ideal candidate for this business will demonstrate the following core competencies:

- Degree qualification or alternative relevant experience
- Experience within a complex organisation
- Supplier relationship management
- Experience of Public sector procurement
- Good negotiator and Communicator

What's on Offer

Successful candidates will earn £24,000 - £26,000 + excellent benefits.
