About Our Client

Based in Merseyside my client has gone through significant growth over the last 5 years and will continue to expand and grow. They have an excellent management team and are backed by one of the most respected PE houses in the UK.

They are now looking for an Assistant Financial Controller to add value to the finance team and join the business and an extremely exciting time.

Job Description

I am looking for an ambitious ACA or ACCA qualified accountant who is looking to work with an excellent finance function in an ambitious and rewarding business. The Assistant Financial Controller will be technically strong but also driven and willing to learn and be proactive.

Experience of key accounting principles, preparation of monthly accounts and full statutory accounts

Competent and experienced in the use of MS Excel (including the use of lookups, pivot tables etc)

Knowledge of the UK tax reporting regime, including VAT and CT

High degree of attention to detail with the ability to self-review and error-check work to ensure accuracy

Organised and adaptable with a strong work ethic

Assist in producing monthly management accounts, including:

-preparing and posting of journals, such as Inter-company journals; payroll journals; depreciation/amortisation; accruals & prepayments; VAT and Corp tax journals.

-reviewing completeness of sales and purchase invoice listings

-reviewing cashbook and bank reconciliation process

-review of the Fixed Asset Register and other capitalised items

Assist in the production of key MI and operational KPI data, used to report business performance

Oversee the work of more junior finance team members in the preparation of monthly accounts

Calculate and instruct revenue collections for investment fees, including reconciliation of revenue amounts to expectation

Oversee the reconciliation of revenue from provider fees to projections from CRM system

Assist in the production of the monthly board pack, for initial review by the FC, and investigating variances as they occur

Assist in maintaining the financial forecast model, validating assumptions and updating actual figures

Assist in preparation of quarterly VAT returns for approval by FC

Assist in the review and authorisation of monthly employee expenses

Prepare fee-share schedules for subsidiary companies and other parties as relevant

Assist in the authorisation of supplier payment runs, and monitor cash flow and aging of ledger balances

Assist in the preparation of data for regulatory filings

Assist in liaising with external auditors for annual statutory audit, and assist other areas of the business with preparing information for similar regulatory purposes

Support Financial Controller in other ad-hoc duties, e.g. data analysis for special projects

ACA or ACCA Qualified, preferably from a large practice background

Commercially aware

Driven and proactive

Technically strong
