My client manufacturer, within a group structure which presents a plethora of challenges going forward for the newly appointed Assistant Financial Controller, a firmly established group which has successfully weathered a turbulent recessionary period. A privately owned business with a heritage dating back to the 1800âs, key business drivers present the need to both embrace the entrepreneurial nature of the group leadership team whilst firmly maintaining strong hands on, controls lead financial management. This is a group which is well positioned through its long standing brand, market position and client relationships, to weather any and all challenges it may face in the years to come.Â

Job Description

As the Bury based Assistant Financial Controller within this Manufacturing group of businesses, your key areas of responsibility will include:

  • Accounting for all "small" UK subsidiaries with the Assistant Accountant
  • Managing the financial accounting process including ensuring strong balance sheet controls and processes are in place   Â
  • Delivering cash flow forecasts as well as improving working capital and cash management processesÂ
  • Management reports and commentary of all above outputs
  • Management of the transactional team: purchase ledger, sales ledger
  • Full management of the fixed assets registerÂ
  • Implementation of controls and procedures to allow the business to rely on the numbers and reports produced

The Successful Applicant

The role of Assistant Financial Controller will report into the Financial Controller,  technically focused position which will provide invaluable and qualified expertise, ideally ACA trained however, CIMA and ACCA will be considered. Candidate will be required to demonstrate experience within the following areas:

  • Full management accounts production
  • Group consolidation
  • Budget formation: production and review
  • Balance sheet management and fixed assets register maintenance
  • This individual must present hands on demonstrable experience of accounts production, combined with some of the above aforementioned skills.

It is worthy of note that succession planning is in place for the right aspiring future Financial Controller.

What's on Offer

Dependent on experience the salary will range from £45-54k + pension, 25 days holiday, discretionary bonus, and health-care
