Job Description

Based in Central London, the role will sit within the merchandising team, working in concordance with buying and planning functions. The purpose of the Assistant Merchandiser role is to ensure allocation of stock from warehouse into the retail stores.

Assistant Merchandiser responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Analysing stock levels against sales to ensure ease of movement between warehouse and most commercial destination to maximise sales.
  • Understanding sales opportunities in each store to ensure capability to meet demand in each location is feasible and achieved.
  • Analysing stock performance in geographies and making recommendations for slow moving stock such as promotions, or moving to a better performing location
  • Using the internal system effectively to ensure stock is in the right place and the right time, and overstock and under-stock are minimised to optimise profitability.
  • Manage delivery schedule, reviewing late arrivals, cancellations and informing relevant cross functional partners.

The Successful Applicant

To be successful for the Assistant Manager position you will need to possess the following experience skills and competencies.

  • Experienced multi-site "Assistant Merchandiser" with experience of trading a product range. An astute Assistant who can be depended on to manage stock to agreed performance targets
  • A strong understanding of the life cycle of a product in a seasonally reactive business
  • WSSI experience
  • A high commercial understanding of the customer and product range
  • Previous experience in commercial businesses with high promotional stock cycles

  • High numeracy and quick analytical skills
