Job Description

This exciting and varied role encompasses housing management, people management and service development. As the Assistant Operations Manager you will be responsible for:

  • Leading in the day to day management of multi Extra Care sites.
  • Optimise lettings performance by supporting Housing and Care Managers to reduce void letting times by implementing improvement plans where applicable and taking an active lead in marketing.
  • Monitor the performance of repair timeframes against contractual and/or organisational KPI's whilst remaining within budget.
  • Proactively address any complaints, ASB or safeguarding issues as per procedures.
  • Carry out quality assurance checks on housing management processes within schemes ensuring a high quality housing management service is in place.
  • Line management of Housing and Care Managers ensuring bi monthly scheme visits / one to one's are carried out as a minimum.
  • Ensuring all policies and procedures are properly communicated. Providing assurance these are being followed correctly.
  • Provide support and advice to Housing and Care Managers to take ownership of complex employment matters, inclusive of recruitment, training, TUPE, grievances etc.
  • Scrutiny and development of all care service performance to ensure optimum customer satisfaction and regulatory/ internal and contractual compliance.
  • Seeking a CQC compliance rating of Good as a minimum in all services.
  • Responsible for informing revenue budgets and delivering these through close scrutiny of agreed performance indicators (e.g. lettings, repairs, carer turnover, care and commercial debt, arrears etc.)
  • Engaging residents in determining services and charges, ensuring the Service Charge budget is understood and accounts are accurate.
  • Assist the Operations Manager in developing and implementing a business strategy for the region.

The Successful Applicant

  • Driving licence is required.
  • A minimum of 2 years Management experience of Extra Care housing.
  • Management experience of leading a complex multi-site service in a care or housing environment.
  • Significant experience of managing complex local authority / PPP or PFI contracts.
  • The ideal person will possess strong people management skills, good analytical and problem solving skills, engaging communication, sound business acumen and the ability to forge internal and external relationships.
