The client is a mid tier Practice firm in the City of London with 15 partners offer a range of services in a mix of Audit & Accounts/Tax, with their clients being from a real mix of sectors including hotels, leisure centres, property and charity clients of SME, Owner-Managed businesses and large limited companies with turnovers typically over £10million.

Job Description

The role as an Experienced Audit Manager will entail:

  • Overseeing and running the audit department through effective management and control of a team of between 2-5 seniors & semi-seniors, training and mentoring whilst on the job
  • Planning the audit and related accounts assignments, including the initial contact with the client, arranging follow-up meetings, briefing staff, preparing of budgets and then completion of the planning section of the audit files for both corporate and non-corporate (not for profit or charitable) entities of various sizes
  • Reviewing the work-papers of the engagements, ensuring they are compliant with the associated regulatory requirements and passing these on for further review by a partner for completion after the testing has been completed
  • Occasionally getting involved in some of the assignments, completing work as part of the team from planning through to completion on accounts/audit assignments during busy season
  • Responsibility for liaising with an external training organisation and arranging their quarterly visits for staff briefing meetings and allocation of cold file reviews (carried out by HAT)
  • Managing a client portfolio and being the first point of contact for a number of clients
  • Management responsibilities involving annual internal reviews such as the appraisal of audit staff and ensuring compliance with CPD
  • Reporting directly to the partners to provide advice on audit methodology and practice within the firm

The Successful Applicant

The ideal Experienced Audit Manager would have the following profile:

  • Technically strong knowledge of accounting and auditing standards including knowledge of FRS102 and other recent developments as well as experience of UK GAAP & IFRS
  • An ability to work on numerous client at one time, formulating and hitting budgets as well as being able to organise, manage and control their own and the audit team's workloads
  • A skilled communicator and an ability to interact on a professional level
  • Be a keen business developer and work well with staff at all levels
