Job Description

The role of the Brand Manager includes the following:

  • To provide marketing focus on allocated brands and to be the brand champion & central point of contact.
  • To lead the brand planning process.
  • To manage the day to day implementation on time and to budget to deliver brand plans.
  • To lead product development and project manage NPD projects ensuring timely launch and full liaison across all internal and external stakeholders
  • To drive profitable brand growth in conjunction with colleagues across multiple disciplines
  • To lead product development and project manage new innovation NPD projects to launch (either as part of a new business acquisition or outside the current brand portfolio
  • To lead the annual planning process, draft brand plans, and present these to the business
  • Manage the implementation of the consumer brand plans and support the SBM to deliver brand plans, liaising with external agencies to ensure all activity is completed on time, to budget and is in line with the brand guidelines and brand positioning.
  • Monitor and report on brand performance through analysis of market data (in conjunction with category team) and sales data (using internal data sources) and recommend remedial action as required
  • Propose requirements for research and write research briefs, analyse results and recommend course of action
  • Project manage cross functional teams to deliver new products to market
  • To be the custodian of the brand values and the central contact point for all information brands internally and with external stakeholders

The Successful Applicant

  • FMCG brand marketing experience in consumer goods company which trades with multiple retailers and cash & carry/ wholesale sector
  • Experience of brand planning process and can evidence knowledge of, and ability to evaluate relative effectiveness of, marketing mix elements.
  • Experience of working in/ leading cross functional teams to deliver projects on time and to budget (leading these teams would be a bonus)
  • Experience of briefing external agencies and assessing creative responses in line with agreed brand positioning
  • Experience of working with external agencies, mainly in the areas of consumer marketing e.g. research & design.
  • Demonstrate commercial awareness eg. Product margins/ costings etc
  • Knowledge of purchase order systems and reporting on brand budgets
  • Writing accurate and concise action based minutes from meetings attended/ chaired
  • Communicating and Influencing - first class written and verbal presentation skills; personable with a sense of humour; uses interpersonal skills to build and maintain effective relationships inside and outside the business; able to use a range of influencing techniques. Good listening skills.
