About Our Client

Our client is a leading successful fashion retailer who are are looking for an ambitious individual to join the branded merchandising team.

Job Description

As a Branded Merchandiser you will be responsible for the following:

Manage effectively their resources and workload in order to achieve efficiently their department's business plan. This will involve controlling set budgets, prioritising workflow and conducting regular team reviews to ensure deadlines and targets are met.

  • Delegates tasks effectively to ensure the workload is appropriately and fairly distributed amongst the team.
  • Recruits suitable staff and ensures they receive the necessary training to become effective quickly.
  • Motivates their team to ensure they maximise performance levels. This will include regular performance appraisals to set and review objectives along with an assessment of individual performance levels and development needs against the competencies.
  • Monitors and reports on the performance of their team in terms of, e.g. sales, stock levels, to their line manager and manages effectively their relationship with the other departments which impact directly on their area of responsibility.
  • Works closely with brand and buyer to agree balance of range, ensuring it is both representative of the latest fashion trends and commercial.
  • Maintains awareness of current market trends, stores and competitors through regular visits.
  • Agrees the presentation format for the selection meetings with their team and delivers it effectively in order to gain commitment to their proposals.
  • Manages and proposes necessary changes to the brand mix, current and new ensuring effective: season forecasting; progress chasing; contract management.
  • Maintains effective relationships with their brands and effectively negotiates delivery dates,
  • Works in conjunction with merchandise operations to ensure line/size/publication potential is optimised through the best control of stock.
  • Identifies how much stock is required for the launch and follows up on the deliveries ensuring they are in line with launch dates.
  • Manages the team to ensure the relevant administration is accurate and up to date and takes responsibility for the approval of Stock Planning, bulk deliveries and exceptions to the critical path.
  • Liaises with co-ordination to ensure sales are optimised in their area by ensuring best sellers are positioned correctly, the depth of stock is correct, new lines are highlighted and stock is available for editorials etc., and making proposals to product managers.
  • Utilises Stock Planning to control the OTB for their department ensuring it is kept within budget.
  • Manages effectively OTB within season.
  • Identifies and reacts to sales trends in order to chase sales and expand the potential of best sellers.
  • Reduces commitment on poor performing lines.
  • Re-balances stock/commitment to reduce markdown, thereby maximising profitability, e.g. cancellations of stock, negotiating stock swaps with the brands.
  • Plans any re-pricing, or re-works, e.g. re-ticketing.
  • Reforecast sales for the season identifying markdown, drop and continuing lines.

The Successful Applicant

The ideal candidate will have the following skills:

  • Significant experience as a Merchandiser
  • A passion and flair for product with excellent knowledge of the branded market. ·
  • Self motivated approach and confident approach in making commercial decisions.
  • Previous experience with Branded product.
  • Ability to manage a team.
