Our client are one of the largest commercial property clients in the UK, they are based on creating good relationships and are looking to recruit with a long-term focus.

Job Description

The Building Surveyor will be based in the office in West Yorkshire and they will have the responsibility for their own projects as well as supporting the Director in delivering multi-million pound schemes. The projects are mostly within the commercial sector working directly for the client and can range from small maintenance/refurb schemes to large construction schemes. You will be responsible for the following:

  • To control budgets, timescales and quality of refurbishments and fit outs, ensuring all works are compliant with necessary statutory requirements, CDM and planning regulations.
  • To work with departments across the business to ensure the fabric and infrastructure of our buildings are well maintained and fit for purpose
  • Delivery of refurbishments in line with the sales and letting plan
  • Delivery of fit-out works in accordance with a customer brief
  • Ensuring successful delivery of fabric and infrastructure projects in line with the business plan
  • Ensuring all works are procured in line with the company procurement strategy
  • Carrying out dilapidation surveys and negotiations
  • Contract Administration
  • Preparing specification and schedules of work
  • To undertake other corporate projects as required

The Successful Applicant

The ideal Building Surveyor will be based in the West Yorkshire area and either be a Graduate or have post Graduate experience as a Building Surveyor. You will be either chartered or working towards chartered status. You will be able to communicate at all levels and have a 'can do' attitude. You will also have the following:

  • Building Surveying/Construction degree (minimum 2:1)
  • Working towards their APC/CIOB
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Negotiation skills
  • Good team working skills
  • Flexibility and creativity
  • A thorough approach and attention to detail
  • An ability to focus on customer service and build business relationships
  • Microsoft Office skills
  • Microsoft project skills
  • AutoCAD skills
