Job Description

Business Development Manager - UK wide Membership Association

Job Purpose:

To adopt a professional, consultative approach to the selling of membership to small businesses ensuring the membership is valued and that the member is retained, by matching specific benefits to address the individual business needs

Key Areas of Accountability:

Sales and Retention

Generate new business from qualified leads and from cold calling

Attain above minimum target recruitment of new members

Attain above minimum target retention through an optimum match of benefits/services to individual business needs

Maximise up selling opportunities that will genuinely benefit the new member by adopting a consultative approach to ascertaining the businesses needs

Conduct 'Welcome' visits to members premises where they have joined online or via the contact centre to ensure they are aware of the benefits of membership as they relate to their specific business requirements

Implement all compliance issues notably FCA, Data Protection and Financial crime

Maximise the impact of marketing campaigns by focussing activity in line with campaign targets

Ensure all leads passed to you are followed up, enhancing the professional image of the Association

Maximise to best effect, the power of social media in attaining new sales leads

Sales Reporting

Provide accurate and timely reports as required by the RSM

Business Development

Record and feedback relevant member/market intelligence and business development activity

Work closely with the relevant regional team to participate in events that are aimed at raising the profile of the Association with the potential to recruit new members

Create greater awareness of their activities, services and benefits by working closely with the relevant regional team to promoting these locally amongst the members and wider business communities

Identify and develop business development opportunities within your area and escalate these to the RSM

To undertake other duties commensurate with the level of the post and as directed by the RSM.

Solid experience of winning new business

Generating own sales leads via the telephone, social media and cold calling in person

An understanding of and empathy with the issues faced by the small business sector

Specific requirements

This role requires the post holder to:

Be willing and able to undertake regular travel throughout the UK requiring evening and occasional weekend work.

You are required to have a full valid UK driving licence.

Have the facility to work from home (equipment provided for business use) in dedicated office space. Your home base must be located in an appropriate geographical area for the work undertaken by this role and must have the space and surroundings for you to carry out work in a safe manner

What's on Offer

Basic Salary of between £30,000-£35,000 plus excellent OTE
