Job Description

Deliver the buying strategy and KPIs (sales, margin and profit, stock, market share)

Working with the Merchandising Manager, plan and execute commercial and profitable range plans that are aligned to strategic direction and budgets, and that are customer and market focused

Work in conjunction with other divisional Buying Managers, Merchandise Managers, and Design Managers to deliver a consistent and joined up approach across the Non-Food divisional strategy

Manage the selection process with the teams, ensuring the delivery of a compelling and balanced offer to the customer in line with the agreed strategy

To set direction and negotiate optimum product cost with suppliers

Identify and maximise cost effective global sourcing routes

To lead, manage, motivate, develop and inspire the Buying team, challenging team performance where necessary

To implement Business As Usual activity, defined as lever mgt; Pricing, Promotion & Ranging, within the Non-Food strategic framework

To develop and implement supplier business plans and set specific performance targets for suppliers, measure supplier performance and manage areas of under performance

To input into strategic direction, identify & support implementation of future commercial opportunities, support the implementation of NPD within the product area

To role model collaboration across the team, liaising with the Product Technologist/Developer in setting the quality criteria for own label products, ensuring the optimal balance between quality and price is maintained; work with Design Manager to encourage innovation, product trend and idea generation to identify key trends and deliver First To Market products, and work with VM/ Range planning to ensure delivery of compelling ranges to the customer

To lead team and coach to regularly review own label products against their appropriate competitor benchmarks

Ownership of the critical path, and oversee range plan

Set strategic direction to maintain a clear focus on the customer and brand handwriting

Ensure ranges are bought and displayed in co-ordination across depts.

Drive change across the department and cross functionally, encourage the team to continually drive newness and initiative

Presents seasonal reviews to Senior Management and Retail team

Implement process and policy on ethical sourcing and compliance
