About Our Client

Our customers base is broad but incorporates the major organisations and businesses in the aerospace, defence, security and technology sectors.
The Category Lead will be responsible for implementing competitive agreements.
The procurement activities will incorporate both traditional purchasing requirements (supplier selection, engagement and negotiation) and will also focus on work winning.
Supporting the Bids and Tenders team the Category Lead will ensure bids are the most competitive they can be to ensure work is won, deliverable and profitable.
The Category Lead is responsible for leading and developing a team of best in class procurement practitioners. The team will be capable of challenging spend behaviours and ensuring best practice sourcing process and decision-making are firmly embedded. Sourcing exercises will be initiated both by requests from end users for new requirements, and through proactive identification of opportunities to improve the quality of existing agreements and/or reduce levels of expenditure.
There will be a relentless focus on ensuring Procurement is engaged sufficiently early to drive the sourcing strategy and ensure value for money can be demonstrated both internally and externally.
The Successful Applicant
The successful candidate will be, or be able to demonstrate the following:
A strong people manager with the ability to lead, develop and inspire a team
A natural and articulate Category Lead (subject matter expert) , possessing good listening skills and able to focus on issues critical to senior leaders. Can deliver communication concisely and steer conversation towards decisions needed.
Has the technical skill combined with sufficient gravitas to be recognised as a subject matter expert
Highly customer focused (both internally and externally) and concerned with meeting and exceeding customer expectations.
Highly results oriented.
Both a 'doer' to 'leader' and can comfortably adapt style to teach, coach, or delegate, as appropriate.
Experience of operating in the aerospace, defence or engineering markets is essential
Record of accomplishment of building new sourcing relationships in areas where procurement has been weak or non-existent.
Knowledge of procurement systems and infrastructure.
