Job Description

As the Category Manager - Indirects you will be:-

  • Develop a deep understanding of the market for areas of responsibility and provide category insight to influence current and future strategies.
  • Responsible for carrying out spend analysis in order to identify opportunities for savings in collaboration with internal stakeholders and then subsequently track and report the actual savings.
  • Accountable for Identifying opportunities for consolidation in order to leverage maximum value from the total group spend and monitor corresponding spend to minimise leakage against Group contracts and frameworks
  • Lead cross functional teams to manage the development of category strategies within area of responsibility to ensure best value and the required level of service and quality are achieved.
  • Responsible for developing a Category Plan for each strategy and develop and maintain a forward work plan based on the Saving Opportunity assessment.
  • Lead the end to end tender process and any subsequent negotiation to ensure optimum contractual arrangements are established with suppliers in accordance with relevant UK and European Legislation.
  • Within scope of purchasing and procurement responsibility, ensure that specification requirements are fully considered and market informed and where possible establish standard products for the Group.
  • Ensure supplier performance management is embedded in appropriate contracts to promote a continuous improvement culture and manage regular contract review meetings with suppliers in accordance with agreed KPIs/SLA's
  • Responsible for the preparation of all the necessary sourcing documentation including RFI's, RFP's, ITT's, tender evaluation reports and contract documents and ensure these are available electronically and recorded on the appropriate system in order to provide a robust audit trail.
  • Develop relationships and promote engagement with SME's and local community suppliers and ensure that social value is considered in all procurement activities
  • Build and maintain effective key stakeholder relationships at various levels across the business up to and including GD level.
  • Ensure that consideration relating to Health and Safety, Equality and Diversity and Safeguarding etc. are factored into all relevant sourcing activities.
  • Engage in such other activities as are necessary and consistent with the key responsibilities of the post.
