Job Description

The Client Relationship Manager's role involves controlling a portfolio of clients and taking responsibilities for all of the services provided. This will include regular compliance services, with business advisory work mixed in.

The client base is a mixture of owner managed companies and subsidiaries of overseas companies and includes aspects of group accounting. The sectors of the companies/clients is diverse and clients usually have turnovers ranging from £1m - £50m.

Client Relationship Managers are also expected to contribute to the day to day running of the office and the management and training of junior staff.

As a senior member of the firm, the manager will be exposed to preparing and presenting new business pitches for the firm.

Typical duties will include:

  • Managing of audit assignments, including group reporting
  • Reviewing audit planning work, including agreeing budgets and time schedules with the client
  • Briefing and controlling the team, dividing up the work, and ensuring compliance with the agreed timescale
  • Corporate tax (CT), including tax planning for both corporate clients and their directors
  • Reviewing of CT computations and returns
  • Responsibility for the financial aspect of managing a portfolio, including raising fees, and controlling recoveries
  • Arrange, plan and then run client account finalisation meetings
  • Training staff, conducting the appraisal process and recruitment of staff
  • Maintaining and developing strong client relationships
  • Involvement in ad-hoc assignments, including valuations & due diligence

The Successful Applicant

The ideal candidate profile for this Client Relationship Manager position would be someone with the following background/skills:

  • ACA/ACCA qualified - 3 years post qualification experience.
  • Currently a manager in a multi-partner practice with a minimum of 40% audit clients
  • Technically strong, meaning a solid knowledge of auditing and accounting standards
  • Demonstrate strong communication skills and an ability to build strong relationships with clients.
  • Great teamwork and problem solving skills
  • Thrives under pressure
  • Clear ambition to progress their career long term, developing skills constantly
  • Excellent communication in report/letter writing
  • A high competency using microsoft office
  • Preferably a driver with their own car
