Job Description

Key accountability's and decision ownership:

  • Draft/review and negotiate a wide variety of commercial contracts, with a particular focus on IT agreements, outsourcing agreements, distribution agreements, licence agreements, and maintenance and development contracts
  • Act as key legal advisor to the Group IT leadership team providing commercial and strategic advice to support an IT transformation program
  • Primary contact for the provision of legal support for the Group Procurement team
  • Draft/review finance agreements, tax agreements, inter-company loan agreements, confidentiality agreements, data protection agreements etc.; also draft and advise on the novation and assignment of various types of contracts
  • Manage litigation matters, working with external legal counsel to determine strategy/tactics and ensure that cases are properly and appropriately prosecuted or defended to protect relevant rights and assets, driving demonstrable cost savings
  • Occasional advice on UK listing rules and corporate governance matters, relevant regulatory matters, labour and employment matters, and intellectual property matters etc. will be required
  • Embed and foster a customer-focused culture, delivering the relevant service for the customer (internal or external) on a timely basis, whilst seeking and acting on feedback to make continual improvements to the customer experience
  • Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement, encouraging simplicity, efficiency, ownership and accountability

The Successful Applicant

The successful candidate should have experience of the following:

  • High level of understanding of general contract law and experience drafting and negotiating commercial contracts and transaction documents independently;
  • Particular experience in relation to IT agreements and outsourcing; exposure to additional specialist areas would be advantageous;
  • Ability to build strong business relationships and naturally influence internal stakeholders;
  • Resilience and ability to work at pace in a transformation environment.

What's on Offer

A basic salary of up to £75,000 (depending on level and relevance of experience) + generous benefits package + discretionary bonus.
