About Our Client

Our client are an independent provider of Rail consulting and Project Management services. Having tripled their turnover over the last 2 years, and more than quadrupled the headcount, they are looking to further grow and expand the team.

Job Description

Main responsibilities to include:

1. Managing the commercial activities and their inter relation on major work-streams, projects and programmes to deliver commercial control which can include the generation of project budgets for the client, often in support of third party funding applications.

2. An understanding of the commercial risks associated with contracts and implementation of suitable control measures.

3. Contract management of all rail projects from initial enquiry to contract completion - including design (feasibility and outline) and construction (generally design & build).

4. Production of management information associated with contract delivery relating to their commercial and contractual aspects.

5. Ensuring the commercial monitoring and control of contractors, suppliers and third parties such as Network Rail.

6. Close liaison with operations and maintenance teams to ensure service delivery exceeds contract thresholds.

7. Reviewing project commercial submissions ranging from early warning notices, compensation events / variations and claims and provision of advice as to liability and assessment of value.

8. Processing of supplier payments including advising clients on certification.

9. Review and progressing of variation proposals to agreement.

10. Negotiation and settlement of final accounts.

11. Financial reporting.

12. Taking the lead in tendering activities.

13. Create and maintain project capital and non-capital spending plan.

The Successful Applicant

- Educated to degree level in a business /QS/commercial or similar discipline

- Able to demonstrate a tract record of managing a commercial environment

- Rail experience desirable

- Knowledge of NEC 3 contracts essential
