About Our Client

A well-established not-for-profit organisation in the public sector is seeking a talented individual team to join their team as Communications Officer in the heart of Kingston upon Thames.

Job Description

Being in this role as Communications Officer - Campaigns and Engagement your key responsibilities will include:

  • Support the development and delivery of communication campaigns and other engagement activities that support the key council priorities.
  • Support the delivery of external and internal consultations including questionnaires, staff surveys and consultation events
  • Undertake analysis of consultation portals including liaison with third party software suppliers
  • Champion best practice consultation across the organisation, working with teams to develop effective consultation and engagement practices.
  • Manage and develop the distribution of publicity materials to selected target audiences by use of external marketing and agencies
  • Develop innovative, targeted content using audience behavioural insights
  • Drive all campaigns towards achieving the targets for outcomes as set out in campaign plans and the annual communications plan
  • Contribute as directed to the organisations key publications and mailing lists, inclusive of online publications such as Neighbourhood Matters and internal publications.
  • Support events designed to promote key organisational activities such as conferences, community meetings and press events
  • Attend various meetings both internally and externally as directed and contribute to building excellent relationships for the communications team and the council.
  • Update and write content for the news pages, general information pages and banners on the organisations website and intranet
  • update the communications forward plan of and develop, monitor, implement and measure communications plans to support the communications and engagement projects and campaigns.
  • Manage and maintain the organisations communications stakeholder database and coordinate its use by services across the organisation
  • Promote the organisations story to explain its policies to residents, businesses, visitors, tourists and other target groups.

The Successful Applicant

The Communications Officer- Campaigns and Engagement role will need the following:

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent - essential.
  • Related professional qualification - desirable eg CIPR, CIM.
  • Experience working in corporate communications environment, private or public sector, including experience of developing and delivering multi channel strategic campaigns
  • A good understanding of behaviour change theory and the role of evaluation in informing campaign design and performance
  • Understanding of the working of local government
  • Experience of producing internal and external publications - essential
