Major training a regulatory board within the construction sector based in central London

Job Description

Responsibilities include:

  • Meetings and annual general meetings;
  • Maintaining statutory books, including registers of members, directors and secretaries;
  • Dealing with correspondence, collating information and writing reports, ensuring decisions made are communicated to the relevant company stakeholders;
  • Contributing to meeting discussions as and when required, and advising members of the legal, governance, accounting and tax implications of proposed policies;
  • Monitoring changes in relevant legislation and the regulatory environment and taking appropriate action; Liaising with external regulators and advisers, such as lawyers and auditors;
  • Taking responsibility for the health and safety of employees and managing matters related to insurance and property;
  • Developing and overseeing the systems that ensure the company complies with all applicable codes, in addition to its legal and statutory requirements.
  • Provide advice, guidance and secretarial support to the Board, CEO, Executive and Committees to ensure that their duties are carried out with regularity, probity and propriety;
  • Monitor regulatory and legal changes and advise on any changes required in the governance of the organisation;
  • To maintain relations with government officials being the main conduit for day to day; communications with officials aiming to enhance the business' 'arms-length' relationship with government;
  • To ensure that the business complies with external reporting requirements;
  • To have overall responsibility for the management of responses to corporate complaints or requests for information through the provision of guidance, direction and support as required

The Successful Applicant

  • Qualified with the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators, CCAB, or be a barrister, advocate or solicitor called or admitted in any part of the UK;
  • Significant boardroom experience as Company Secretary
  • Confidence dealing with stakeholders of all levels
