My client are a tier 1 Financial Services business based in the City of London. They are a progressive business going through a period of dynamic change so there will be plenty of opportunity for the successful candidate to network internally and seek other roles.

Job Description

The Compensation Accountant will have the following responsibilities:









Monthly management accounts

To enable effective management decision making the P&L must be accurate and the balance sheet reflect a true and fair view. The responsibilities of the Compensation Accountant are therefore:

 Prepare and review bonus calculations

 Understand different bonus processes,

o Fixed commission - Upfront amortisation, Guarantee Minimum Bonus (GMBs) - earned or top up

o Variable commission - Formulaic - Revenue or Profit linked, Discretionary Bonus

 Ensure accuracy of payroll information

 Review actual payroll posting on multiple cost centres

 Analytical review of compensation costs in the P&L

 Ensure the Balance Sheet reflects a true and fair view, all balances are accurate and justifiable with appropriate supporting documentation provided

 Management of highly confidential data, including data integrity, data access and data dissemination





Process Improvements

 Ensure the management accounts processes are efficient and robust, fully documented and make recommendations/system enhancements where possible based on any local knowledge

 Liaise with various departments (both upstream and downstream) to understand their processes and the dependencies on both sides in relation to Management Accounting

 Support and provide input to the planned automation

Other

 Develop and maintain strong relationships across the business,

 Manage audit queries

 Fulfil additional / ad hoc duties as required to meet the needs of the business

The Successful Applicant

The successful Compensation Accountant will have the following skills and experience:


Skills:

 Skilled in Microsoft applications software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook etc.)

 Microsoft Excel knowledge to advance level is essential

 Ability to multi-task, prioritise and meet deadlines

 Strong organisational skills

 Strong interpersonal skills

 Excellent analytical skills with excellent attention to detail

 Excellent written and verbal communication skills

 Demonstrate enthusiasm for working and contributing to a changing environment

 Conscientious, self-motivated, resilient and goal oriented

 Ability to develop new skills and understand new technology as required

 Ability to readily comprehend processes and / or corporate structures
