Job Description

As a EU / Competition Lawyer with 2 to 5 years experience you will take an active role in an award winning Competition & EU team advising clients (such as Major luxury car manufacturers, major retailers, global pharmaceutical manufacturers to name a few) on issues such as:

  • Cartels and dawn raids;
  • Competition litigation (follow on/stand alone damages claims/defences, both before the High Court and the CAT);
  • Merger control notifications and advice, including structuring transactions to reduce regulatory risks, and obtaining merger clearances;
  • Issues arising at the interface between competition and IP law, including in relation to FRAND and standardization;
  • Anti-competitive behaviour (including disputes);
  • Competition law compliance (UK and EU);
  • Complaints to and investigations by the European Commission, CMA and other regulatory authorities;
  • Distribution, agency and licensing agreements EU regulatory issues, and free movement; and
  • State aid.

The Successful Applicant

Our client is looking for a EU / Competition lawyer to be based in London. The ideal candidate will be a lawyer who is qualified to practise in England and Wales, and has:

  • Demonstrable experience of advising clients on the application of the UK and EU merger control regimes, as well as a range of other competition matters, including compliance, cartels / anti-competitive arrangements, and issues in relation to abuse of dominance; and
  • The proven ability to establish and develop relationships with internal and external clients.

We anticipate that the successful applicant to have:

  • A genuine passion for and interest in competition and EU law;
  • A sound technical foundation in relation to competition law issues;
  • Language skills (French language is desirable);
  • Willingness to engage in business development and marketing initiatives;
  • A postgraduate qualification in competition/EU law (desirable);
  • Previous experience of competition law issues arising in the context of IP (desirable);
