About Our Client

Our client is a well known and influential Developer who has been operating in the Central London market for over a decade. They are currently expanding their structure and have identified the need to employ a well experienced Construction Director to help ensure the succussful delivery of one of the most significant large-scale Mixed Use development schemes in Greater London area.

Job Description

The ideal Construction Director will lead the design, procurement and construction team for the project and ensure that all team members are achieving their individual accountabilities. The role covers inception to completion of the project and must ensure that the objectives of the development brief and financial model are achieved.

Key Roles:

  • Leading all aspects of construction for the project from the procurement of site wide logistics and infrastructure to individual plot delivery
  • Taking a strategic approach to the organisation of project delivery, the construction director will be expected to have longstanding relationships with the construction market such that they are able to influence outcomes across a range of tier 1, 2 & 3 construction partners, specialist trade contractors and suppliers
  • The role is not to "do" individual construction projects but to ensure they are set up for success and to take an active overview such that risks of delivery are understood, managed and mitigated acorns a range of plots and contractors
  • Selection of all construction partners and oversight of delivery
  • Ensuring with our construction partners, that we have an innovative approach to how we procure and deliver the project on time, to budget, at the required quality to create the maximum value
  • Management of the design, procurement and construction project teams
  • Ensuring buildability advice into design across the project
  • Ensuring the production of accurate scopes of works and employers requirements
  • Sign off of the procurement strategies
  • Putting in place the site wide approach to health and safety
  • Agreement and sign off of valuations and final accounts, sign off for all construction related invoices.
  • Sign off of all contractual issues
  • Reviewing the monitoring of onsite works and reporting to Operations Director
  • Investigation and implementation of construction and product innovations
  • Agreement of construction preliminaries and resources
  • Ensuring accurate cost and time reporting by our construction partners and supply chain.
  • Ensuring the production of an integrated procurement and construction programme
  • Putting into place the necessary construction related meeting structure and reporting process.
  • The construction Director will be responsible for the coordination of the design and project management disciplines within the project
  • Sign off of main contractors proposals for site set up and logistics
  • Ensuring sufficient resources are applied by our construction partners during design development such that we maximise the benefit of buildability and MMC advice
  • Undertaking continued research and development relating to construction and supply chain in order to develop an integrated D&C approach

The Successful Applicant

Candidate Profile

  • Ideally 25+ years post qualification experience
  • Experience in either the mixed-use, commercial, leisure (hotels) or residential sectors, ideally gained with a consultancy organization, contractor or possibly an affordable housing provider
  • Thorough understanding and experience of the development process from inception to completion
  • Entrepreneurial and a problem solver
  • Technically strong with rounded property skills, analytical and financially articulate
  • Able to provide project leadership, motivate and manage external teams
  • Confident presenter, good interpersonal and communication skills. Able to build and sustain relationships with a diverse spectrum of people.
  • Energetic and ambitious for personal growth and development.
