About Our Client

A small private practice with a particular focus on contentious construction law.

Job Description

Do you ever feel like you haven't had the opportunity to go down the area of law that you wanted to? Are you in a monotonous, high volume role in which you have little commercial input and where you'll never realise your potential?

We are working with a new, forward-thinking law firm who appreciate that there are some hidden gems within smaller law firms / different areas of law. This is a firm who have a potentially huge client base, with the Directors having direct relationships with CEOs and decision makers at major, national construction companies. They have set up their business with a real emphasis on client service - giving their clients clear and strategic legal advice. They want to be seen as the go-to law firm for proper construction legal advice.

The team, made up purely of construction professionals (both legal and non-legal) are passionate about the industry and love what they do.

They have a stream of clients who are ready to engage them and move away from working with the big city law firms. It's an exciting time for the team and the potential is huge.

This could be your chance to be part of it.

Ideally the team would like to recruit an experienced contentious construction lawyer who wants to do something a bit different and move away from your typical city firm. They appreciate that finding a good construction lawyer is extremely difficult, considering few people qualified into this area during the recession.

This is where you could come into the equation.

They are willing to look at very bright, commercial thinking, client facing solicitors who want to do something different. Somebody who is frustrated in the area of law that they find themselves in and would relish the chance at being re-trained into a new area of law.

You will have to be up for a real challenge: you will be given training and development but you have to be very committed and willing to work very hard to get up to speed.

A lot of it will come to personality - the team is made up of really well-respected people from the construction industry and they are constantly out meeting clients and talking about the world of construction. They would expect this of you too. So you have to really enjoy the client facing side of things and be able to have commercial, strategic conversations with senior clients.

The work will be mainly contentious so it may well suit a litigator who wants to branch into a different area.

What they can promise you is being part of something in its infancy and helping be part of making it grow. The potential of the quality of work and clients is exciting and you'll be acting for household names.

Please get in touch for a confidential discussion if you would like to explore further.

The Successful Applicant

As above - the client can be open minded. At the very least you will need to have a very strategic/commercial way of thinking and be able to demonstrate that you have transferable skills and can learn quickly.

What's on Offer

Market rate with the potential to grow once you are up to speed.
