Job Description

  • Ensuring that debts are paid to terms
  • Using telephone, e-mail and letter, chasing the recovery of funds for aged debt items for a substantial client with multiple high value ledgers
  • Maintain accurate records of all chasing activity
  • Taking appropriate action to ensure outstanding amounts are collected and debtor days reduced and specific target values are maintained
  • Maintaining accurate and up to date customer details and account records on a substantial ledger/multiple ledgers
  • Liaising with the client and external customers to ensure queries are resolved in a timely manner
  • Resolving complex problems with client guidance and referring to legal when deemed necessary
  • Building and maintaining client and key customer relationships
  • Raising reports on the position of outstanding debt
  • Posting payments and allocating cash
  • Reconciliation of key accounts and production of statements
  • Maintaining or improving any known processes
  • Various ad hoc accounting tasks as required
  • Training of other team members to assist in covering workload

The Successful Applicant

  • Strong credit control experience ideally dealing with complex/large value debts
  • Ability to work proactively
  • Systematic approach to work and an eye for detail
  • Clear and concise communicator with a polite and professional manner when dealing with clients and customers
  • Intermediate Excel skills
  • Confidence to deal with difficult situations
  • Ability to deal with high level client management
  • Excellent negotiation skills
  • Detailed understanding of credit control process
  • Ability to work to strict deadlines, producing high standards of work
  • Ability to work well within a team
  • Ability to give guidance and coach other team members
  • Educated to at least Higher Grade
