Job Description

Data analysis

  • Work closely with a variety of teams, primarily producers and marketing team, to help frame the appropriate questions to ask of the available data.
  • Design hypothesis tests, execute queries, and perform rigorous statistical evaluation of the results to produce actionable insights from the data that add value.
  • Select and deploy appropriate analytical and statistical techniques to help with a range of tasks including but not restricted to:
    • Segmentation
    • Modelling
    • Propensity modelling and churn analysis
    • 'what if' analysis
    • Regression analysis
    • Econometrics/media mix modelling
    • Trend and cluster analysis to identify patterns in customer behaviour
    • Customer profiling
    • Lifetime value calculations and projections


  • Build on the existing reporting system, put in place both regular reporting to cover:
    • Weekly trading KPI pack
    • Customer performance and trends
    • ROI of key activities (eg marketing)

Delivering insight to support strategy:

  • Interpret, collate and communicate key insights to operational teams
  • Ability to draw on detailed analysis and communicate key points, findings and recommendations an engaging way using appropriate language and style dependent on audience.

Use appropriate data visualisation tools, present data and insight in meaningful ways, which can be understood by a range of audiences within the company

Technical Competencies

  • Strong understanding of relational databases, in particular:
    • Ability to build complex queries using SQL and joining multiple tables
    • Ability to extract and transform data from a variety of data sources/formats and import into a an analytical data store
    • Understanding of T-SQL and stored procedures
    • Experience of SQL Server (preferably 2008 onwards) and SQL Server Data Types
  • Sound understanding of CRM systems
  • Mathematical/Statistical background
  • Advanced Excel and experience with Faststats or comparable analytical platform
  • Experience with statistical tools such as SAS or SPSS an advantage
  • Ability to present findings and recommendations both verbally and using powerpoint

What's on Offer

This Data analyst role based in Worcester working for a retail client is initially offered on a 3 month contract with a day rate of £275-£325 per day dependant upon skill set and experience
