About Our Client

Our client is one of the U.K's leading research Universities made up of over 18 academic departments, ranging from sciences and economics, to arts and humanities.

The University was founded over 100 years and with that is made up of a number of listed building set in over 120 acres of stunning park land.

The Estates Capital team is currently involved in a large number of projects, and will be in the forthcoming years, which has created the requirement for a Deputy Director of Estates.

Job Description

Responsibilities of the role will include but not be limited to:

  • Active participation on the Master Plan 2015 through the various Project Boards, Governance Committees and Internal/External stakeholder groups to brief for and deliver the Master Plan and its leading edge Estate Plan.
  • Active engagement with, and initiating projects to support the decantation of academic and support facilities to inform the Master Plan phasing strategy and support Estate Plan projects in the transitionary period.
  • Initiating strategies and projects in support of academic partnering, with specific emphasis on supporting the University's strategy for REF and TEF.
  • Active participation in the development of a robust yet flexible approach to space management and reporting, including decant strategies for projects emanating from the Estate Plan.
  • Directing the ongoing development of the University's portfolio of Properties, Sustainability Strategy, incorporating Energy and Carbon management; Green Transport Plan, Traffic Impact Assessment and parking strategies.
  • Directing external consultants briefing for estate issues including Facilities (hard and soft); Maintenance (services and material specification) etc.

The Successful Applicant

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Minimum of 5 years experience in an Higher Education in a Facilities/Estates management capacity
  • Experience managing/overseeing multiple Capital Projects/Programmes simultaneously
  • Relevant experience directing large teams across varied service lines
  • Degree level qualification in construction/property or a similar relevant field
  • Ability to quantify his/her achievements in Higher Education or a similar environment
