Job Description

  • To lead the gift administration and database, functions of the Development, Alumni and External Engagement directorate.
  • To manage the Raiser's Edge fundraising database and all associated information and systems, including Gift Acceptance, financial processing (including online transactions), , reporting and analysis, data storage, , Gift Aid and Payroll Giving, and to manage external suppliers providing these functions.
  • To undertake segmentation and data interrogation to identify, analyse and interpret trends or patterns in large and complex data sets.
  • To work with the Director in creating and manage the expenditure budget for Directorate operations.
  • To manage the administration of gifts, donor/prospect data and projects, and to oversee operational relations with other relevant departments.
  • Manage the processing of all donations, the transfer of all data to and from the fundraising database, regularly monitor, report and evaluate the data, and to deliver proactive, tactical and strategic information to fundraisers and senior management, ensuring HMRC, data protection and audit requirements are met.
  • Ensure that the database is developed and responsive to the evolving needs of the organisation and to all the fundraising stakeholders and to encourage its use within the fundraising and communications departments by providing support to its users.
  • Engage in project work of an analytical and developmental nature across the full range of Development activities and provide recommendations based on results and analysis, and advise the Development team on data analysis/manipulation.
  • Proactively contribute to income generation through Gift Aid, effective stewardship of contacts, risk avoidance, forecasting and planning, efficient and insightful use of data.
  • To create and manage expenditure budget for the Development Operations function, and to monitor expenditure on a monthly basis, making recommendations where necessary to enable the achievement of the annual budget.
  • To maintain a good understanding of the latest developments, current trends and legislation as it applies to the fundraising and information management environment.
  • To ensure that the Development Office provides the highest standard of stewardship to donors, prospects and contacts. To provide guidance and oversee the processing of donor queries and handling of donor complaints.
  • To maintain, develop and implement effective processes that will deliver high quality data services to Directorate staff, contacts and donors, including regular and adhoc reporting, prospect research, financial reconciliation, mailing lists and activity schedules.
  • To manage the permanent, dedicated database staff members, temps and interns , providing effective leadership, direction, management and motivation that will enable them to deliver the strategic objectives of fundraising plans across the organisation
  • To collaborate with the Director of the unit on managing the overall strategic direction, planning and overseeing Directorate information and financial systems, and to manage all day-to-day processes, operations and systems.

The Successful Applicant

  • Demonstrable experience of substantial background in information management and data manipulation.
  • Advanced experience in statistical analysis including financial and marketing reports.
  • Administrator level knowledge of the Raiser's Edge database
  • Exceptional organisational, logistical and project management skills, attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong IT skills, particularly spreadsheets, CRM/donor databases, reporting tools, accounts packages.
  • Superb oral and written communication skills with excellent grammar and punctuation
  • Ability to communicate effectively, and secure the support of, a broad range of people including senior management, colleagues in finance and registry teams, donors and external organisations.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, particularly successful experience in line management and mentoring.
  • Self-motivated, and clear evidence of high standards, pro activity and problem-solving.
  • Good research skills, understanding of prospect research and profiling principles and how major gift fundraising works.
  • Experience/knowledge of fundraising and marketing processes and principles.
  • Experience of working within development, public or corporate relations or other service-oriented, client-facing environment.
  • Experience of managing suppliers, external contacts and operational budgets.

What's on Offer

£190 - £218 per day at first instance / £41,800 per annum + once permanent. Immediate start
