Job Description

The successful candidate filling the Development Manager role will aid in the development of the local authority's land assets, and have the chance to affect real change to the lives of local residents by creating exciting spaces for the community. You will successfully balance this delivery against the need to drive returns on value and reduce project debt within the building and construction team.

You will thrive on developing projects through all stages of their cycles, from initiation, through to design and specification and finally to the build-out and delivery stage.

You will be effective in managing diverse stakeholders, from local business owners to cabinet ministers, via councillors and third party executive management teams.

You will have a background in property, development or project management, ideally with a professional qualification in a building related discipline and post qualification experience of at least three years.

The Successful Applicant

The successful Development Manager will recognise that this position provides the rare opportunity to impact meaningful change to a host of major community development projects and will have considerable experience of negotiating and managing complex multiple use projects. In order to be considered you must:

  • Have good knowledge of the construction industry
  • On-site experience of managing development projects
  • A working knowledge of health and safety legislation (relating to the management of buildings and works)
  • A basic understanding of local government practices and procedures, including financial regulations, European Union Regulations and procurement practices.

£50,000 - £60,000; bonus; pension; 30 days annual leave
