Job Description

The Development Manager role based close to Oxford will have the following responsibilities within the role:

Maintaining and co-ordinating a sound contact base of the best consultants and specialists required to assist in the analysis of new land opportunities and the processing of secured land to planning permission

Preparing land/technical due diligence reports with input from the Technical Director

Preparing technical fees budgets for land acquisition packs and finance team

Carrying out initial site visits with the Land Director and internal team in order to assess the technical requirements, recording boundary details, photographic records and demolition and conversion requirements

Assisting with the co-ordinating the submission of planning applications with consultant team

Maintaining Security and Health & Safety requirements as appropriate on newly acquired sites up to the land/technical handover

Preparing land/technical handover packs for acquired sites with planning permission so they can be handed over to the build/technical team

Maintaining up-to-date information in land files and keeping minutes of key meetings

Attending planning meetings and public consultation events during the initial pre-planning phase

Assisting the Land Director in the coordination of architects when working up planning applications and schemes for site appraisal and preparing development briefs

Maintaining contacts with utilities companies and obtaining service records for new site acquisitions

Internal liaison with Commercial & Build departments in obtaining budgets to assist in acquisition appraisals and briefing departments on up-coming acquisitions and requirements

Assisting Land Director in preparing acquisition packs for Board Approval

Negotiating competitive fee agreements with consultants and maintaining records for accounts department to track pre-acquisition costs and preparation of budgets

Assisting in solving technical problems on new land acquisitions in order to progress bids and expedite the process of taking land through to start on site

Maintaining and collating pre-acquisition legal packs

Attending meetings as required with Land Director

Preparing and maintaining a technical report template for land acquisitions in-line with up-to-date commercial requirements and legislation

Maintaining and collating new land leads for discussion at land meetings and assisting the Land Director in responding to new opportunities

The Successful Applicant

As a Development Manager working within the Property and Housing industry you will ideally have experience working on projects over 250 units in size. Our client is looking for candidates who can hit the ground running and provided excellent support to the Land Director, acting as an efficient go-between Technical and Land departments.

The candidate chosen for this role will ideally come from a background as a Development Manager or with a strong technical understanding.

They will also be able to fill the following key attributes:

Ideally trained to degree level with a housebuilding Technical department background

An eye for detail with an aptitude for problem solving

Organised with the ability to keep accurate records of detailed information

Ideally at least 5 years' experience in a technical role with a house builder / developer

Able to effectively manage a team of external consultants and achieve key deadlines

Full UK driving licence
