Job Description

This Digital UX Researcher will be tasked with the following duties:

  • Develop and deliver a user research plan to improve the agency's existing digital services, whilst ensuring new digital services meet the needs of our internal and external users and customers.
  • Conduct user research and generate findings to shape the development of new digital services and iteratively improve the experience for users.
  • Use a variety of user research methodologies to reveal actionable insights and build a rich picture of customers and provide digital service recommendations based on quantitative and qualitative evidence.
  • Act as an advocate for user needs within the agency.
  • Build effective virtual networks across the agency and working with colleagues to help deliver the digital service transformation strategy.
  • Work closely with Department of Health digital team and the Government Digital Service to ensure digital channels and services meet current standards.

The Successful Applicant

The ideal Digital UX Researcher candidate should have:

  • Extensive knowledge and experience of working in a busy digital environment in a large, complex, expert organisation, including the identification and championing of user needs, strategic content planning and evaluation, to deliver business objectives and enhance reputation.
  • Experience of conducting user research (e.g. pop-up testing, interviewing, and focus groups) and usability (lab) test sessions and ability to present research findings in a creative and compelling way.
  • Excellent knowledge and understanding of current and emerging digital technologies and how they can be practically and effectively used.
  • Excellent written, editorial, social media engagement and oral communications skills with a strong, proven understanding of user needs and digital service delivery.
  • Excellent internal and external relationship management skills, with ability to develop good working relationships and influence social media influencers and senior managers, dealing with conflict and challenge in a calm, measured way.
  • Good planning, project and time management skills, with ability to work on own initiative and problem solve, and priorities own work according to changing business needs.
