About Our Client

Michael Page are working closely with a reputable retailer based in West Yorkshire.They are currently looking for a commercial, proactive individual to help grow their business.

As a key management member of the ecommerce team, and ultimately the wider commercial team, you will be a key stakeholder responsible for a multi million pound retail channel, with a vision of growing its ecommerce platform significantly over the next 5 years.

Job Description

The Ecommerce Trading Manager will be responsible for the following:

  • You will have responsibility for trading and maximizing sales conversion and profit across all digital platforms, whilst ensuring that the online proposition is commercial, customer focused and is the absolute best in its class.
  • Collecting and interpreting data from a wide range of tools and sources, you will be expected to translate the data into sales and conversion driving opportunities that all work to the aim of company sales.
  • You will work closely with the Development and Content Managers to ensure all strategically agreed tasks and ideas are implemented to a high standard, launched meeting expectations and then measured accurately to be able to report back on next steps, escalation of strong initiatives etc. AB testing is a strong focus for ecommerce and this role plays a leading part in the direction and interpretation of this.
  • This role touches all areas of the business but strongest relationships will be with Merchandising teams to ensure all stock and sales opportunities are maximised, along with promotional and pricing teams to ensure website is aligned and driving all cross business initiatives.





The Successful Applicant

The ideal candidate will have the following skills:

  • A strong leader, you will have excellent communication skills which will be equally balanced with industry leading analytical and trading drive and interpretation.
  • The Ecommerce Trading Manager is expected to present frequently to all areas of the business and to be the support for the Head of Ecommerce in meetings etc when they are not in the business.
  • Strong understanding of the trading performance in a retail environment.


  • Proven track record in taking ownership, driving results and moving with speed to implement ideas in a fast-paced online environment.


  • A wealth of experience in an eCommerce Trading and/or Analytics roles


  • Strong commercial awareness and an understanding of ecommerce business drivers.


  • Results driven with excellent analytical skills to make structured recommendations to the business.


  • Understanding of web analytics tools such as Google Analytics and Coremetrics.


  • Proven experience of analysing and interpreting data, in a retail or consumer focused environment.


  • Strong understanding of SEO.


  • An understanding of user journeys.
