Our client is an international business advisory firm with offices in over 25 different countries worldwide, specialising in Corporate Finance & Restructuring, Economic Consulting, Forensic & Litigation Consulting, Strategic Communications and Technology.

The Economic and Financial Consulting (EFC) practice provides law firms, companies and government agencies with analyses of complex economic and financial matters to assist them in understanding the issues and opportunities they face. The firm are also experts in valuation, intellectual property and matters arising in securities litigation / international arbitration.

Job Description

As an Economic & Financial Consulting - Associate/Consultant, the role will entail:

  • Being involved in the full range of EFC's work and therefore responsible for the delivery of individual work-streams within projects, working alone or with others
  • Associates/Consultants being centrally involved in analysis and the preparation of formal written reports
  • Being expected to be able to take responsibility for research and other information gathering activities including quantitative, industry and market analysis
  • Reporting all findings in a clear, concise and structured way

The Successful Applicant

The type of candidate ideally sought to become an Economic & Financial Consulting - Associate/Consultant would be/have:

  • A "problem-solver" who enjoy developing and applying bespoke approaches to solve complex, unstructured problems in a logical manner
  • Strong analytical skills and be able to explain their work and communicate their conclusions and findings clearly, both orally and in writing
  • Both an eye for the big picture, and for detail

The qualifications and experience ideally looked for would be:

  • Sufficient relevant professional experience to demonstrate the ability to be an EFC Associate;
  • An ACA, CFA, or other relevant qualification (preferably) or working towards one of these qualifications
  • A 2.1 or better in a degree or higher degree from a university with a reputation for excellence in the subject in question

In addition, the following would also put candidates in good standing:

  • A solid understanding of the principal concepts in valuation, accountancy, microeconomics and finance and an ability to apply these concepts
  • Be able to obtain, manipulate and analyse information
  • Proven project management skills and experience in managing people and individual work streams
  • Be proficient in MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Knowledge of other relevant analytical software such as Microsoft VBA or Access is also desirable
  • Associates will be familiar with sources and tools such as: Companies House, Bloomberg, the Markets/Capital, IQ Thomson Reuters
  • Stronger candidates will also be proficient at speaking and writing in another language but this is by no means essential
