About Our Client

My client is an award winning Housing Association, providing affordable homes and services to customers across Cheshire and into Staffordshire.

They manage over 5600 homes for over 15000 tenants and have plans to build 1000 new homes by 2018.

Job Description

The successful candidate will be responsible for direct external contractors as required to ensure that the organisation complies with statutory and other legal requirements relating to electrical maintenance and installation activities carried out by the organisation.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • To manage contracts for the servicing, repairs, maintenance and replacement of mechanical and electrical plant installed in the housing stock, offices and shops, ensuring compliance with statutory and legal requirements.
  • Direct external contractors as necessary in the provision of servicing and repairs, ensuring that expenditure is maintained within budget.
  • To support the Contracts Manager in the tendering of servicing and repair contracts, and support the Asset & Investment Team Leader in the direction of investment for replacement heating and re-wiring schemes.
  • Budget management for specified areas of responsibility, ensuring value for money is evident and invoices received for payment are correct /processed within deadline.
  • Managing and monitoring the maintenance contracts ensuring work is undertaken to the right standard and on time, also ensuring that best value for money is achieved in the operation of the contracts.

The Successful Applicant

Electrical Officer

The successful candidate must have:

  • 5 years experience and technical understanding of mechanical and/or electrical installations
  • Experience of working in a social housing environment with a working knowledge of all relevant health and safety and statutory requirements
  • A recognised technical qualification and a good working knowledge of relevant health and safety legislation.
  • Latest Edition Electrical Wiring Regulations
  • Time served apprenticeship with relevant electrical qualification equivalent to NVQ Level 3 or above
  • Approval by the NICEIC as a qualified QES

The successful candidate will be reporting to the Head Office in Cheshire and will be offered a competitive hourly rate dependent upon experience. This is an excellent temporary opportunity with the potential to go permanent. you must be happy to travel around Cheshire and parts of Staffordshire.
