Job Description

  • The Electronic Supplier Engineer will work independently to maintain the technical qualification of suppliers and supplier processes and work with suppliers to resolve complex technical issues that may require the development of new or improved techniques or procedures.
  • The position is the technical specialist to make independent decisions on technical problems and methods, provide technical leadership and project management to qualify and improve supplier processes for the manufacture of electronic Medical Devices in our external manufacturing & supply chain.
  • Working with colleagues from across all areas of the business from Quality, Research and Development, Supply Planning, Sourcing, Product Management and External Manufacturing sites.
  • You will build excellent relationships, whilst maintaining the highest standards of analysis and reporting.
  • You will act as liaison between these groups to ensure products are developed appropriately for high volume manufacturing, deciding the technical direction for new processes and leading trouble-shooting activities for existing products and processes.
  • You will analyse data and base decisions on statistical rationale.
  • You will occasionally be required to travel to the suppliers and external manufacturing sites, many of which are based in Asia.
  • You will be responsible for projects related to the introduction of new products in the marketplace and upgrades and improvements for existing products.
  • You will act as the technical specialist in cross-functional project teams working on a wide variety of products being manufactured.

The Successful Applicant

To be part of this performing team based in Inverness you will be degree qualified with knowledge of

  • High volume electronics manufacturing and automated test systems.
  • The activities you will be working on will be highly visible and critical to the delivery of product for our business.
  • You have the opportunity to be part of a team working across the entire product range of medical devices.
  • You must enjoy working with a sense of urgency while maintaining high levels of rigour.
  • Six sigma based methodology as applied to manufacturing processes and problem solving.

  • You will have an eye for detail and the ability to work independently on complex tasks with minimum supervision.

  • You will lead the investigation of opportunities that deliver real process and product improvements.

  • You will have a strong desire to ensure compliance in all aspects of your work.
  • You will have a background in electronics, an understanding of how our devices function at component level and how the manufacturing test systems interact with the devices.
