About Our Client
A market leading, value added, ambient food manufacturer with a commitment and desire to develop and improve its people and processes. They are currently looking for an Engineering Manager to support the development of its function and site in West Yorkshire.
Reporting to the General Manager, the role of Engineering Manager will work as part of a focused, results driven team and be responsible for the effective management of the engineering department including Maintenance and Projects. It's envisaged that you will also deputise for the General Manager, so exposure to similar leadership will be an advantage.
You will specifically focus on the daily management of a production critical maintenance department on a manufacturing site whilst taking full ownership for local efficiency and energy saving projects (capital and revenue). Your close interaction with the local team and Group functions will help you rapidly develop.
Areas of responsibility include site maintenance, engineering and equipment availability. You will also be responsible for setting and controlling budgets; developing meaningful performance measures; owning, developing and evolving the maintenance strategy; managing direct reports and providing visible leadership.
The Successful Applicant
The successful candidate will have previous experience of managing an engineering team which operates in a highly competitive environment with conflicting priorities and hold the following qualifications: 17th Edition, IOSH / NEBOSH, Engineering Degree or equivalent together with a proven safety record. Experience with Retailer Codes of Practice and food manufacturing is desirable but other backgrounds will be considered if skills and behaviours fit.
You will possess the following attributes and behaviours: team player, effective leader of a team, calm under pressure, ability to think on your feet/be pro-active and hands-on manager.
