Job Description

  • Ensure ER issues are dealt with in a timely and consistent manner by appropriate engagement to improve capability of leaders to manage performance and change.
  • Provide advice and guidance through the cases team on difficult and complex individual cases, including termination of employment.
  • Formulation of a range of employment policies ensuring control, updating, and implementation within the business, in line with legislative and business requirements.
  • Manage changes in employment legislation, assessing impact, and developing strategies to negotiate and consult changes into the business.
  • Provide advice and guidance on terms and conditions related issues to resolve disputes and manage contractual employment issues.
  • Gaining agreement and commitment to policy change from key Stakeholders including Trade Union Forums and any policy review groups.

The Successful Applicant

  • Experience of leading, engaging and managing multiple people/stakeholders at different levels to navigate through a wide range of situations
  • Experience of managing & implementing change
  • Seasoned HR Generalist or Specialist with significant exposure to managing and providing guidance and support for ER & Cases-related activity
  • Experience of operating at Senior Leadership level for a large, commercial organisation
  • Experience of working in a TU environment with the need to inform, consult, and negotiate
  • Ability to work under pressure, analyse, and apply sound judgement, taking account of varying circumstances to make thorough, but swift, decisions and deliver high quality work in a timely manner
  • Ability to manage a disparate workload and prioritise to offer a consistently high level of delivery
  • Ability to effectively and proactively manage stakeholder relationships at all levels
  • Ability to confidently challenge current ways of working and influence and encourage change
  • Clear and confident communicator (verbal and written) with commercial acumen
  • Tenacious and resilient change agent who can sensitively balance retention of current process and what is effective with the need for change, bearing in mind the need for cost savings and operational capacity at all times in a performance focused organisation
  • Competent in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook
