About Our Client

Our client is a global supplier of soft fruits and is in one of the fastest growing sectors within fresh produce. The business had a turnover of £200 million in 2014. The business employs over seventy members of staff, which are mostly based in the offices in Hertfordshire.

Job Description

The Hertfordshire based Events and Communications Manager will liaise with the brand team and HR to ensure all communication is consistent. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Internal Communication Strategy and Best Practice

  • Manage relationships with all interfacing personnel, to include, customers, buyers, growers, procurement, technical, accounting and IT teams to ensure messages are on point and up to date
  • Continually seek out ways and methods to improve communication processes.
  • Proactive approach to training and development to keep up to date with changing technology and best practice
  • Schedule regular internal communications updates for the business to maintain staff engagement - create an annual events calendar with key messages - e.g. Milestones, NPD launches, seasonal events etc.
  • Proactively identify opportunities for Award entries and press releases and create calendar, communicating upcoming deadlines to Board as necessary to leverage opportunities for press coverage and brand awareness
  • Manage and update Yammer/ Internal news feed system and take responsibility for creating a communications plan for TV screens - liaise with PR and Brand Manager
  • Work with customer facing Insight team to gather key customer messages which need communicating and liaise with PR and Brand Manager and Digital Analyst to ensure these are communicated via correct channels

Events Management:

  • Responsibility for "mini-events" to engage staff in corporate and consumer brand - create and maintain calendar to showcase in season products and varieties in line with seasonal events
  • Responsibility for organising Half yearly update meetings on/offsite
  • Responsibility for sampling events for branded product and own label retailer product - attend and manage events and ensure outputs are communicated internally (and externally where relevant) - maximise opportunities for in store sampling and Head Office events to promote brand (B2B or B2C)
  • Responsibility for all "National Days" planning, execution and review of campaigns and reporting


  • Coordination of activities and acting Secretary for CSR Group
  • Responsibility for Eat Happy Project with Tesco - coordinating all events, liaising with schools and attending as many events as possible - arranging team schedule, props and meetings

The Successful Applicant

The ideal candidate will have come from a food or beverage background, but this is not essential. Previous work in organising CSR and marketing events to promote the brand would be useful.

The Events and Communications Manager can expect a basic salary between £40K-£45K. Benefits include pension, bonus, health care and 25 days holiday.
