Job Description

This is a permanent position and based in my client's London offices. It is primarily focused on expatriate tax matters with frequent opportunities to broaden the role to work on UK employment tax matters too.

General responsibilities will consist of:

  • Preparing tax and social security cost projections and use these to help the firm identify opportunities for cost savings and efficiency.
  • Working with the International Mobility team to identify the internationally mobile employee population requiring tax assistance and advise appropriate wording for secondment contracts.
  • Holding one to one tax briefings with secondees/transferees leaving and coming to the UK and dealing with queries regarding their tax affairs.
  • Preparing UK tax retuns for this portfolio of secondees/transferees, both based in the UK and overseas, to be reviewed by the Employment and Expatriate Tax Manager.
  • Working with the International Tax Team to determine the implications of new office openings and employees working in new locations.
  • Applying the firm's tax equalisation policy, including communicating the implications to secondees, partners and the wider firm.
  • Communicating with HMRC on behalf of the firm and individual employees.
  • Preparing the annual Short Term Business Visitor report.
  • liaising with the Head of Expatriate and Employment Taxes

Demonstrable levels of experience and knowledge of the UK tax system for international secondments and how this interacts with taxes paid in overseas jurisdictions will be essential. I would expect the candidate to be an established AM or newly promoted Manager.

We would expect the successful candidate to be ATT qualified, but would welcome CTA or equivalent relevant qualification (Qualified by experience will be considered).

An ability to be confidential with information as well as dealing with challenging stakeholders.

A real team player.

An ability to break down complex information regarding People Services / Human Capital Tax issues and represent this simply to non tax technical individuals.

A competitive salary + benefits and a chance to gain in-house experience within a great global firm.
