About Our Client

A leader on their share of the environmental sector, my Berkshire-based client is a successful and highly acquisitive SME that has experienced extended periods of growth. They are now on the lookout for an ambitious Financial Analyst that will help drive their UK team forward and will work closely with the Finance team, Business Director, Commercial Manager, Ops Manager and the Site Managers.

Job Description

Essentially, the Finance Analyst role would focus on partnering with the business to provide relevant insights into business performance, supporting effective financial planning and analysis and providing business expertise into accounting/financial control processes.

While the duties and responsibilities of this role are quite broad, they include and are not limited to the following:

- Conducting business performance analysis to identify, investigate and understand operational business unit results

- Preparing, challenging and explaining accomplishment of budgets and forecasts in coordination with Operations and Commercial teams

- Providing ad-hoc analysis and insights on specific issues (e.g. develop business cases for new business opportunities)

- Preparing Capex approval forms including rationale for the investment and calculation of expected financial return

- Driving process improvements in working capital management

- Ensuring accuracy of period-end financial closings by providing business expertise into the financial control team and reviewing final output

The Successful Applicant

Ideally, the Finance Analyst will have experience in dealing with plant operations and managing multiple projects.

You will have demonstrated the ability to "get behind the numbers" and understand key drivers within a business

An ability to identify business cases for new opportunities is crucial as well as the and the ability to prepare planning models and/or implementation plans for those opportunities with senior management.

You would be expected to have a good knowledge of implementations and use of financial dashboards/analysis tools; experience building strong working relationships across different seniority grades;

SAP knowledge and advanced Excel skills are essential.

You would also be happy to travel up to 50% of the overall working time.

Desirable criteria:

- Business/Commercial acumen and ability to understand plant operations

- Analytical skills to make sense out of large sets of data and identify critical KPIs

- Highly developed budgeting, forecasting and business analysis skills

- Highly numerate

- Ability to manage multiple projects / plants under analysis at a time

- Communication skills to provide rounded opinions and clear recommendations

- Influencing and negotiating skills to deal with a variety of functions and profiles within the organization

- Hands on and proactive attitude to pursue tasks where value for the business can be added
